blast from the past?

Anyone have or used hydrothruster pumps? I have one that i got when i bought a system not too long ago nd was wondering if anyone still uses one. It's a double headed, mag drive pump that's rated@550gph per side, but i'm not sure if i should use it...maybe for a closed loop.

anyone?

Oh man, been years since I,ve seen one of those. Not sure if they still advertise in Fama. Thats where they use to run ads. I used a single end unit, many years ago. As far as I can recall it was a fine pump. Used so many since then I cant remember the noise amount but ran it in the dining room, so could not have been that bad.

Yeah, I had one of those Hydro Q's back in the day (about 10 yrs. ago). I was an o.k. pump. It never died on me, I had to replace it when I upgraded to a bigger tank though.

Hi nofrills,

It's not too often you find something laying around that is actually useful in this hobby!

Well i actually bought an entire system off of a guy that had it up and running for 16+ years! That was the only pump he used...with about 12ft.of head pressure. He ran no skimmer and 6-40 watt bulbs...the growth was amazing. Sometimes less is more.
