question about adding sand and live rock.
I have a 75 gallon with 40 lbs reef bones,a bit under 1 inch sand bed and 20 lbs live rock
I would like to add another 20 lbs or so of live rock and an inch or so of live sand. problem is I have a few fish already and some have made themselves at home in the rock. will adding this stuff cause chemical level problems or stress the fish that live in the rock? |

I would cure the rock first, in a seperate container, and then add a small amount at a time. Are you going for a DSB? If not why add more sand?

Generally with sand beds, there are two schools of thought: < 1" or 4-6".
