plumbing

I have a aquaclear 110 powerhead......can I put this under my tank in the cabinet and plumb it up to the tank? Will the powerhead be ok if not submerged in water...basically would the pump be ok to use as an inline pump

That will not be powerful enough to move water that distance. You should look into a MAG drive pump for this. How much water are you trying to move through your sump?

well not really too sure how much water Im trying to move. I have a mag drive 3 that came with my remora skimmer. How bout leaveing the aquaclear pump in the tank and and running a line from that to the skimmer and useing my mag for water circulation closed loop. Although I think the aquaclear pumps more gph than the mag but Im not too sure if it can be used on a closed loop set up. Its a 90 gallon tank mainly fowlr and a few coral and urchins and some other little critters. I think I need to move 900gph which I am doing with the 2 pumps I have now with them just hanging on the back of the tank.....which is just plain ugly

The Aquaclear pumps need to remain submerged so that the surrounding water can cool them. Otherwise, they burn out.

For a closed loop like this, I would probably get another Mag-Drive pump.
