Live Rock

HOLY MOTHER MARY OF GOD........I just got my first wiff of live rock in a bag......are those rocks supposed to smell like something dead on a hot day in a closed room with no air circulation.....Im not kidding that stink made my insides turn like a top. Then there was some gooy black slimey crud that looked like what was left over from an oyster and I went to rub it off and Im pretty sure at one time it was alive and Im almost certain that all the stink in that bag was held in captivity behind the thin layer of slimey mucus that I ripped open......someone has got to tell me, is this for real, is this what it is supposed to smell like. I mean Id rather swim in a hot septic tank, that was just terrible. Im gonna have nightmares for sure and certain.

That's a clear sign you've had some die off... it needs some curing for sure. You can rinse it in saltwater and brush off the stinky stuff, too. Any white slimy stuff should be brushed off, too.

Hmmm... now that the tank is full, I could convert the pool to saltwater...
