I clean mine with warm water about 1 to 2 gallons, and 1/2 cup vinegar per gallon. I let them run in this mixture for 15 mins. After that I run them in clorox bleach same quantities, for 15 mins. Then I flush them with just plain warm water for another 15 mins. I add Prime to the warm water 3 times the recommended dosage just to make sure the bleach gets neutralized. After all this I make sure the intake screens are nice and clean, and they are ready to be put back into operation.

Send a message via MSN to Samper
I scrub them off with a toothbrush and rinse them. Then I run them in the same vinegar solution that they described above for a while.

I use the several bath treatment that showfish describes, although I do the bleach first followed by the vinegar. The bleach will sterilize the pumps while the vinegar will remove any calcium deposits.
