Eco-Magic????
Has anyone heard of a system called eco-magic, it supposedly keeps you from having to do water changes. The company that designed and built it is Hi Q. Any info would help I am looking into the system since it makes things so much easier I just want to make sure it works before I buy it. The price tag is a little high at $200, but if it works I think I will buy. Thanks

To the best of my knowledge and experience, there is no system that will run a tank indefinitely without water changes. Eventually the system crashes.

I don't know very much about that product. Here is what I do know:
It has been advertised for about a year now. I have seen it advertised as low as $77.00 for the large size, whatever that means. I believe it is made in Taiwan. The manufacturer's brochure provides absolutely no useful information as to what's inside the filter. In fact, they don't say anything at all except that it provides for biological colonization. Well, live rock provides for biological colonization, too. Just read the "features" part of their brochure -- nothing but pure, unadulterated snake-oil claims that say nothing. Seems like another waste of money to me but if you can tell us exactly what it is and exactly how it works, that would be helpful. Try asking the salesperson who is trying to sell this thing to you to explain exactly what's inside and exactly how it functions. That should be good for a few laughs. Good luck! ![]()

Two things make this a dead give away not to purchase:
1. It has the word "magic" in the title. 2. It says it will eliminate the need for water changes. |

I saw that at a trade show. Just didn't recognize the name. It appeared to be nothing more than a biological filter, similar to a wet/dry, trickle filter, but in tank.
