Coralife super skimmer
I just set up my coralife super skimmer and not being familiar with skimmers I have a question. I know that I have to let it run for 24-72 hours for a breakin. I was wondering if all the tiny bubbles being put into the aquarium are normal and after I get it skimming will my aquarium look like that normally. It looks like it is cloudy all the time now.

Breaking in the skimmer doesn't solve the bubble problem... I'm not familiar with that particular brand of skimmer, but sometimes you can adjust skimmers to decrease the bubble output, but more commonly, you have to get a bubble filter (a piece of foam for the skimmer output water to run through on the way to the tank). Your tank should be without microbubbles when you add the filter.
Anybody else on here got some more specific suggestions for lefty?

I dunno, not familiar with that brand.. did the foam filter thingy come with the skimmer? If so, you might have too much flow going through for the filterbox thingy to handle.... just a guess on my part....

yes the foam did come with the skimmer. Is there a way to slow down the flow?

Sorry, lefty, I don't know... did your pump come with the skimmer and does it have any attachments that look like valves?

the only adjustment I see is the one where you adjust the foam level in the trash chamber

Does that make a difference when you adjust that?

Not that I can tell. I think that the bubbles are getting better now that it has run a few days. I still am not collecting anything but there isn't anything to filter. I get my live rock Thursday and I assume that I will start seeing things then. I will keep you up to date.

Live rock came in today Got it in the tank. The coralife super skimmer is working now. Lots of brown foam getting trapped. Hopefully I will get some good growth on the rocks. Can't wait for some movement. I hope to get a free starfish!!!

well the live rock is in I took tests today and they are ph 8.0 no2-3.3
no3-100+ nh3-3.7 salt level is 1.026 which is a little higher than I want. Do the rest of the levels look right for a new setup. I am using the live rock to cycle the aquarium |

it definitely looks like it is cycling.... if the Nitrate is 100+, you should do a big (at least 50%) water change... IMO
