    Dart Pump Leaking

I'm hooking up a new Dart pump, but can't stop the fittings from leaking! On the In-take and outlet I used the appropriate sized plastic fitting with plenty of teflon. tightened the fittings down as tight as I can, but they still leak. Any suggestions????

....don't overtighten the fittings? ...just a suggestion.

Hmmm... now that the tank is full, I could convert the pool to saltwater...

    Shawn,
What color is the valute? If its blue you can only hand tighten it. If it still leaks its probably cracked. I put a hose clamps around the valute outlet and tightened the fittings with channel locks. It worked for me ( I have two Barracuda's) The best thing to do it call MDM and get them to send you a new black valute. If you already have the black one you can hand tighten and then give it a 1/4 turn using channel locks.

    Your using teflon tape, right?

Thanks for writing. I did use teflon each time and I do have the black valute. I took it back to the LFS and they re-did the fittings and this time also used silicone. We'll see tomorrow when I hook it up again.

You can do more then hand tighten with the black valute, if this try doesn't work I'd just keep turning until it stops.

you can also use MORE teflon tape. I've had to do that in quite a few situations; works well.
