Who knows everything....
...about skimmers
Ok, I have a couple of questions, by the look of my photos , is my skimmer turned on too wet? I was told if the tank is already cycled, etc... then run it wet. Does this look correct? Also, the bubble production diffuser... I know it's hard to see but it's on the left, does it need to be sitting lower in the water or higher??? |

I'm far from knowing everything about skimmers, but I'll see if I can help anyway based on my own limited experiences with them.
From the first picture it looks like your collection cup is full of sump water, not skimmate. I can't make out the other two pics except for the pump. It appears that your water column is too high to me. Probably because there is either too much back pressure on the outflow or too much volume coming from the pump into the reaction chamber. Your sump depth looks ok; you should be able to leave the skimmer on the floor of the sump and adjust the input and outlet pressure. It looks like there is a ball valve on the pump, you might try closing it a little. Also, if you have a needle valve which controls the amount of air into the venturi, you might try to adjust that too. |

requesting a pic. it would be helpful to see the skimmer body so that we can tell how high the water is in the colum and how much air is in there.
