2 weeks old
Well my tank is 2 weeks old and am starting to see progress in the live rock. Salinity---1.023
p.h ----8.2 No2 ----0.1 No2 ----between 50-100 nh3---0.1 Now the questions. I am starting to get brown algea growing on the rocks and the powerheads. Do I leave it alone or get something to eat it? What would you suggest. The Nitrates are still high. I am starting to do water changes 25% at a crack. Do it every day? Also will the water changes take care of the high Nitrates? I also have raw shrimp to help age the tank. Right? thanks for your advice in advance,. ![]() |

Hi lefty,
This is probably diatoms and should be left alone as it will quickly go away. I would suspect in 3-4 weeks. |

Only been two weeks, tanks needs to run its course. Leave it alone and let it do its thing..

I agree, however going ahead and starting your normal water change regime would be a good idea. If you are planning to do 10% weekly, or whatever, I would go ahead and start them up.

Good deal! Keep us updated on the tanks progress. Remember with water changes, a steady, frequent schedule is best.

I think once per week will suffice unless you see something alarming.
