Hi Otters,

A good protein skimmer under $100 is not possible unless you get a really good deal on a used skimmer. I would suggest in your case a CPR Bak-Pak from can be found for about $125.

One of our Reefland moderators, Steven Pro wrote this article on skmmers... the review includes a review of the Seaclone 150.

Im so confused @_@

Stevens says Aqua-C is a good one, but he doesn't say which one is the best, and Reefland says Bak-Pak is a good one

Should I make a poll?

If I had a preference I too would go with the Aqua-C Remora Pro. However for someone on a limited budget, the CPR Bak-Bak, on a smaller tank, is the best option. There is about a $100 difference in cost.

The Bak-Pak and also the Excalibur are good performers at a decent price. I like the Remora slightly better than either, but it costs more as well.

Is the Aqua C a hang-on skimmer?

The Aqua-C Remora is a hang-on skimmer. Aqua-C is the manufacturer while Remora is the model.

I run an Aqua C Remora Pro on my 75g and it is outstanding. The Aqua C Remora is rated up to 75g and I have heard nothing but good on it. You may be able to pick one up on ebay used.......

I use the aquac remora skimmer and have had no problems with it. The scum it produces is incredible for the price you pay and is very easy to use and clean. Yes it is a hang on skimmer, just make sure you upgrade the pump with it and you will have flawless green putrid stink in your skimmer on a daily basis

I just recently purchased a Aqua-C Remora for my 46-gal. bowfront.

Thanks to alot of people I went with it and glad I did. It is one good skimming machine.
