Closed Loop

I'm setting up my sump and plumbing my tank. I want to make a Closed Loop, using appx 1000-1200 gph, using Ocean Motions' OM Squirt. One outlet in each corner

Any experience with this product? Am I better off with a couple of Sea Swirls or the like?

For the main flow I'm going to try a wave box. I've heard nothing but good thing about them. They are different (good match).

Thoughts???

I myself would go with the sea swirls. I would upsize the closed loop pump.
Maybe before I say that, I should ask you how big is your tank and what do you plan to do with it as far as corals go. When we get that info, it's gonna help us help you.

I've got a 100 gal, 40 gal sump/refugium. I've got a 1.5" drain -- actually two 1.5" drains, but I was going to use one for the closed loop and one into the sump. I want to keep SPS and clams -- a little of everythig that goes together LPS/Softies maybe. I'm in the end planning process, ready to plumb and put everything together. I'm just trying to do it right the first time -- or as nearly right as I can.

Thanks for all your help. I really like this forum.

I would try to size the closed loop pump to the drain size. Look into a Sequence pump or an Ampmaster. Depending on the amount of head loss you are gonna have, you could probably go with something like a 2000gph pump and 3 3/4" sea swirls. All you are looking for, no matter what type of coral you want to keep, is random flow. I think the sea swirl will do that for you. JMHO

Thanks, Charlie.

Is that 3 SS in addition to the wave box?
