remora pro cleaning/maintenance

I've noticed my remora pro has been pulling very little skimmate. I clean the cup about once every two weeks and even then its not full.

I use to pull at least a cup of dark, stinky s*** every couple days, now it looks like tea and hardly any.

What do i need to improve performance? It has a mag 5 pump, I checked it the other day and appears to be pretty clean. I clean the collection cup whenever I empty it. What other cleaning/maintenance things can I do to get it back to normal?

Also, would the lack of skimmate be a factor in cyno battle?

Nate

The easiest way is going to be to take the entire skimmer and pump assembly off of the tank, hang it in a bucket or extra, smaller aquarium, then fill that vessel with hot tapwater and bleach, approximately 1/2 cup bleach per 5 gallons water. Allow the skimmer to run for 15 minutes or so. Then drain everything and repeat the procedure but instead of bleach use white wine vinegar. Then drain and rinse well. You should also remove the screw on the top of the injector and run a pipe cleaner through there to make sure to rid it of any debris.
