Coralife RO/DI

I just got my ro/di set up yesterday. So here's my review. Unit is nice. Well built. Comes ready to go out of the box. Hook it up and turn water on. At first I was a little concerned. There should be a disclaimer in the manual, for the fact that the first time use, that it takes an extremely long time to get going. Once it finally cylced everything was good to go. Took about 2 hours to get about 30 gallons not too bad. I really like the unit. Only thing is a I wish it had a longer supply line and a extra clean water line. But easy fix, To Home Depot I go. Ok, that's my review.

Is this a 4 stage unit? Also, 15 gallons per hour seems pretty fast, most RO membranes will filter 100 gpd at the most (that is most commonly available aquarium units). What kind of membrane is with this unit?

Also, make sure you dump the first 5-10 gallons of water to make sure any impurities in the unit are flushed.

It is a four stage unit, I was actully really suprized at how fast it actually went. It's rated at 50 gallons per day. I did throw the first 10 away.

There is something wrong here. A 50 gallon per day unit producing instead 360 gallons per day!?! Something is not right.

ok, I did some investagating tonight, come to find out, the membrane was not seated proporly. Oh well I used the 30 gallons I made the other day. No biggy I guess, It's still cleaner then any other water I've put into the tank as of yet. At least it had been somewhat filtered. So I've none got it running. at about 3 to 1 waste to good. before it was 3 to 1 Good to waste. Still a nice unit, runs much slower then expected.

Thanks for making me look into that.

Do you have any idea as to what your final TDS is on your final product water?

Having a TDS meter is a great help in figuring out when to change your filters and membrane. Do you have access to one?
Otherwise, I would make a suggestion that you aquire of these handy little guys. I think they are only about $30-40.
