hello

hellow everyone, my name is jake and i'm starting my first saltwater fishtank, its going to be a 30g long, with about 15lbs of live rock, today I went down to my local aquarium which is very educated and thier tanks are PERFECTO!! so I was talking to the girl who owns the store, and she said that i could do a blue tang in a 30 gallon!! do you guys think that will be ok, my grandfather has a 200gallon tank and he already said that when it gets bigger i could move it into his tank, what fish do you reccomend for a 30 long (fish that grow slowly) the lady had a french angle fish that wasn't that big and she said it was 5 years old, she also said that she has a blue tang in a 30 at her house and she has had it in there for 3 years!, so tell me what you all think, and everything you say will help me to learn more and more about these amaizing fish!

First off, welcome to Reefland, there alot of good resources here.

I, myself wouldn't put a tang in anything less than an 80. She may have one in her tank at home, but I don't think it is a happy critter. This is just my personal opinion!!!

You can stunt a fish by keeping it in a small tank, but it is not good for it and they generally perish prematurely.

I just got a blue hippo tang for my 46 g, and got sick, so I REALLY recommend not to make the fish suffer and putting it in a small tank. Try maybe a Flame Angel, nice, good size for 30g and beautiful coloration.

Agreed, I wouldn't would do one in 30 long. As far as the second part of the question, you can get some chorisies, Sand sifting goby, Algea Blenny, a clown maybe a mated pair, small angel, royal gramma. I would stay with the small stuff.
