Help. I'm confused!
I'm new to this hobby. I have recently purchased the following items and I was wondering if this is going to work. I have a 90g tank which is going to be FOWLR. My tank isn't predrilled.

Welcome to Reefland, hal2001!
You'll need the wet/dry for now for biological filtration since you don't have enough live rock to function on that size of tank (1.5-2 pounds per gallon are recommended). Be sure you rinse (with saltwater) the detritus out of your bioballs at least monthly while you use the wet/dry. The problem with not adding live rock in the beginning is that if you add it later and it is not fully cured, you can kill off your tank inhabitants by causing nitrogen spikes. It's possible to add live rock later, but be sure it is sufficiently cured. Lighting is not critical in a fish only tank, but I think the lighting you have would be pretty dim. I'd suggest you at least double the wattage. Good luck!

Fish only tanks can create a large bio load from feedings and thier waste. Your protien skimmer will help but I agree with Bubba, you will have a hard time holding a good water quality without a good biological filter of some kind. I am not sure if everyone would agree, but I feel that a wet/dry filter would be better for a biological filter on a fish only 90 gallon than live rock.
