    Remora Pro question

I just hooked up my Remora Pro with the mag 3 pump and I noticed one serious flaw...the only confiuration that seems to work is one in which the intake for the Mag 3 pump is directly under the output for the skimmer, creating a seemingly circular loop. If I try to point the intake away, I can't hook up the pump to the skimmer- the output of the pump is too far away from the input of the skimmer. Anyone find a solution? Here's a photo of what I'm talking about:

Get the overflow box. It's really a must-have.

Take the four screws out to remove the impellor cover from the pump body. Then turn the cover 90 degrees and reattach. You then should be able to mount the pump so the intake is not under the skimmer return.

Whoa... cool. I didn't know you could do that!

The overflow box is still really handy though. It makes sure water is skimmer from the surface and if gives you an extra place to put carbon or whatever.

Thanks for the pointers. Can't wait to go home and try out that modification. This skimmer is amazing! I just put it on last night on an essentially empty tank- all that's in there is water and aragonite- and this morning I got a cup full of this grey muck from the skimmer...I've never seen anything like that!! Makes me question how well I rinse my sand and clean my filters.

I tried the mod and worked. I actually rotated the mount 180 degrees and that gave me the clearance I needed. Now I just need to sit back and wait for the noise to go away. This sucker is pretty loud but I'm going to be patient and give it time to quiet down...anyone know how long it usually takes for the skimmer to finally get quiet?

In about a week on a tank with livestock in it. In an empty tank it may be longer.

kevinpo was right on- it has been exactly one week and the skimmer is significantly quieter today. It's also not picking up as much skimmate either but I'm going attribute that to the fact that all I have in there is live rock and nothing has been changed/added in the past week.
