Question Problem with Aqua Lifter Pump

I've been running an Aqua lifter pump on my CPR overflow for about 6 months and it started giving me problems with continuing the flow. The pump is running but does not seem to have enough pumping action at times. I've removed the pump to test at the kitchen sink and when placing finger on tube ends it almost feels like it's pushing out both input and output line (I'm I making any sense?). I can start pumping action with a little pull on output line.

Can the pump be taken a part to clean? I see Foster & Smith has a lifter filter but not sure what this is (internal part?). For the price maybe I should just buy a new one!

It probally has a good bit of calcium built up in it. It does come apart, it's not too hard, (Hint : Pull). Then I soak all my stuff in viniger and then rinse really well. It should do the trick, Good Luck.

Most pumps need cleaning every couple of months... they are warmer than the water going through, and calcium tends to precipitate on their parts.

I have the filter, and it DOES collect quite a bit of crap coming from that little nipple. I would add the filter, and clean the pump out as suggested.
