My tank is a 75 Gallon all glass aquarium. I have had it on this stand for about 6 months. I did not know that the tank was unlevel until i had already had the tank on it and filled with stuff, or else I would have not used it. But now that the tank is set up it would be a serious pain to take it down. I took a picture of the Stand/Tank so you would know what im talking about. The left and right end are supported its just the middle that isn't supported. Is this a serious problem? Like I have had it up for 6 months now and no problems have occured but maybe its a long term situation and maybe it will occur in time. Do you think I should switch the stand right away? Or do you think I could wait about 12 months cause thats when we plan on moving and I was going to take the tank down anyways and I switch the stand then.
Any Suggestions? Last edited by DiSkuStiNg; 08-08-2006 at 02:39 AM. |

Could be a VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM
Just because no problem yet, It still could blow. and I mean blow. when the tank has had enough of the uneven pressure, it will go. When I was new in the hobby, I had a 55gal, had it up for almost a year. My stand wasn't sanded even around the top edge. One night about 3 am I heard what sounded like a brick coming thru my window. I looked around and nothing, then I noticed the floor was soaked. But the tank looked alright. the bottom of the tank just blew out. nothing left. I am sure you don't want to be running around at the last minute trying to find something to put your livestock in. It wouldn't be too hard. to lower the water level and put shimms under the stand. until you have it even.

An uneven tank most always leads to big problems. Leaks is the most common.

I use...I think it's 1/2"...styrofoam between the tank and stand, so it will absorb any imperfections between the two.
Are you saying that you think the stand isn't supported properly or that you see the tank is twisted or leaning? |

Try using a string to check if its the stand or the tank trim.
Pull the string tight across the top of stand from left to right touching the top on both ends. If there is a gap in the middle between string and stand top the stand is sagging,if no gap its the trim on the tank. From the photo it looks as if its not the stand or the doors would be binding. Can you inspect the back to see if its the same as the front? |

Agree with Mandarin - fix it now before you have a bigger problem, I'm just lucky my husband was home early from work the day ours blew a seem or we wouldnt have had anything left.

Yes definitely repair or replace it. The later being the better choice. Some tank manufactures won't warrenty their tanks unless you buy their stand for it. Something to consider.....
