    source for acrylic

I'm trying to find one in my area. Looking in my phone book, a lot of the glass places say they carry Lexan. Is that the same as acrylic (I know that plexiglass is different).

Lexan is another name brand for acrylic as far as I know and will work fine. If you can't find it locally try Plastic Tanks, Plastic Buckets, Plastic Bottles and Labware, DVD Cases - United States Plastic Corporation ®.

Thanks. They seem to carry anything I could possibly need.

Lexan doesn't glue up as well or hold water. It would be OK to make baffles out of, or small projects.

Acrylite GP is the stuff you ideally want.

I've had good experiences with US Plastics... but if you find an acrylic place in Palm Beach County, please let me know! Although US Plastics has just about any sort of acrylic for sale, shipping of the cement is rather expensive since you have to pay for shipping of hazardous material. It would be nice to find a local source.

Hmmm... now that the tank is full, I could convert the pool to saltwater...

I found a place just across the border in Broward called Speert Custom Plastics. I'm going to drive by in the next few days to check out what they have. I'll let you know.

Speert had the acrylic but not the adhesive. However, I found a place in Pompano that may have a similar selection as US Plastics:

    Piedmont Plastics
1521 West Copans Road Suite 98
    Pompano Beach, FL 33064
    Local Office#: 954-972-9122
    Toll Free# 1-800-763-7898
    Fax# 954-972-9029
Piedmont Plastics, Inc. - much more than just sheets, rods, tubes
The directions are simple: I-95 South to Copans Road. Exit West on Copans Road and go to first light (Andrews Ave.) Turn right, heading North on Andrews Ave for about 3/4" mile or so. Look for a large white building on your left.
