Scott you are one up me, as I have not heard of any of those brands.
Isaac, as for water flow 15x the tank volume would be the absolute minimum (for SPS). However, the type of flow, (linear etc) and the amount (15x) will vary considerably based on the inhabitants. I like to have much more than that for my SPS tanks. Say 25x or better. My 25 gallon reef has approximately 900gph of flow with the various power heads etc. That's 36x! When you look at the tank would never never know. As the corals grow the will diffuse the water flow so take that into consideration. For practicality reasons my 375 gallon will only be flowing about 25x the water volume at 9000gph. This is via the return pump and a closed loop system.

Over time science has shown that the simplest answers are usually the correct ones.......
why are hang-on and canister/external filters more expensive than the internal type when they have the same or more water output? i can figure out why it would be a bit more expensive but the hang-on and canister/external filters and more then 3 times the price and with less water output. WHY? *cries*
otto makes very good pumps, i have a couple that still work after 10 years.they used to look like aqua clear powerheads but they look different now
