Jebo Skimmer. Should i Buy it? (pic included)

im looking at buying a Jebo 180 Hang-On Venturi Skimmer + powerhead for $67.42 AUD (Australian Dollars)

"This high-performance hang-on skimmer is good for salt water tanks up to 500 litres. This is a excellent skimmer for the money. With a extra large collection cup and easy adjust method. It comes with a AP1500 powerhead and all equipment to start."

will this skimmer be ok for my first tank 150L + sump ?

I bought one for my curing tank. The quality is OK, it pulls a good amount of drak brown gunk out of the tank. The only drawback is it is VERY noisy, I would not put one on my display tank just for that reason. The pump it came with is decent, but I switched to a MJ 900 and it helped quiet it down a bit (not much) and has much better flow. It is easy to set up a operate though, unlike most low budget skimmers.

I don't have a Jebo - mine is a Seaclown, which is of similar construction. Mine is mounted in the sump and "insulated" from all the glass and wooden surfaces using polystyrene blocks. I can watch TV with it on... but I'd prefer not to.

For a good quality hang on the tank skimmer, look at the AquaC Remora Pro.

I know they are expensive and that initial cost is sometimes hard to justify, but if you can't get a good skimmer now, you should hold off until you can. Honestly.

Out of curiosity, everyone seems to speak of 'loud skimmers', are you referring to the air inlet to the venturi being loud?

You could always check eBay. Just do the research. A lot of people are dumping off skimmers just don't work well. Stick with a solid design. Honestly I would stay away from the JEBO and the similar. I've been there/done that and wouldn't wish that skimmer on anyone. Not that they don’t always work, I just know that mine didn’t. I would pick a model and keep searching for it. Other than that you could make one. If you don’t have a sump, you might consider an overflow. Very convenient even if you just use a Rubbermaid sump, its still great and then you wouldn’t have to settle on a hang on skimmer.
