ive been looking at the jebo, weipro, queen and Azoo skimmers and ive heard the Jebo has overflowing problems and takes time to tune and "break in"
what are your views on the weipro and queen skimmers? or could you recomend any other budget skimmers? There is NO WAY in the world that i will spend $400+ for a skimmer I have the money to buy 1 but its just so much money to spend on 1 peice of equipment if i can get one for $100 with a pump ill be happy, as long as it works I saw 1 skimmer for $8,500.00 WTF! who would pay that much for 1? you'd have to be Damn crazy Rich people.Last edited by isaac; 10-25-2006 at 08:16 AM. |

For the money the Corilife Super Skimmers are great. The middle one would be a great choice. But even better look at the octopusskimmers They are really nice and they are needlewheel skimmers as are the super skimmers. The Red sea sounds ok, but I personally would look at some of the other options.

I Live in Australia in a town that has 1 LFS and it does not neal with saltwater. and i cant Find any of those brands with a skimmer under $200 on the web. what ill do is get the deluxe upgrade kit which takes extra water from the surface or something and thats were more proteins are...
but for $100 its a good deal he said he would thow in a few long bits of hose and a small powerhead like 600L/H its the easyest deal i can find enywere on the web. anyways this skimmer New is like $350 if its better than a Jebo then what the hell. But thanx for all your help.

Of you buy cheap once then you almost always end up buying again.... Then you spent MORE then if you bought the right skimmer the first time.

What ever you do DO NOT BUY THR PRIZM they are a total waist of time.
Can you get v2Skim Skimmers in Oz, they are cheaper than Prizms and a thousand times better. Paul |

$100 plus hes going to throw in a few extras like an air pump and some lengths of hose. when he was using it he said it produced smelly brown stuff. thats all i want it to do. If you want to get Thick Black Tar out of a skimmer You have to spend more than $500. im going to buy the upgrade deluxe kit for it to make it more efficiant aswell.

Go ahead and spend your money, When you have got your Prizm you may want to have a look at this Oz site which will then show you how to go about trying to get it to work OZ REEF - Prizm Skimmer Modifications These are listed as stockists of the v2skim in Oz PET PACIFIC PTY LTDLOT 8, LELAND STREET, Penrith, N.S.W 2750, AUSTRALIA Tel: 00-61-247311644 Fax: 00-61-247323075 Last edited by pharris; 10-26-2006 at 03:29 PM. |

You need to listen to Poseidon on this one. I went cheap with the prizm and was very disappointed. I now have an ASM, which is basically a knockoff Euro Reef, and it works great. The Corilife Super Skimmer is another good skimmer for the price.

About the Red Sea skimmer
I have had the Red Sea Prizm skimmer deluxe for six months running in my 90 gallon tank. Yes I agree that it isn't the greatest, but for the money it does a decent job
. Although I wouldn't drop it in a tank any larger than 90 gal. I also agree with most everyone elses comments, if you want a good / great skimmer be prepared to spend the extra cash. In the long run its worth it! |

The Prizm skimmers are good on small tanks (like my 10 gallon that it's on right now) or a lightly stocked tank. My advice would be to scrounge eBay for something like a CPR or an AquaC Remora- they aren't bad- and I've heard good things about the coralife superskimmers as well. Good deals can be found online. Keep looking- and I don't know any experienced hobbyist who would pay $350 for a Prizm skimmer.
BTW- my Prizm was NEW, shipped for $80. $100 is a rip-off.
