V2 Skimmer - New

Hi all,

Well i have just set up my marine tank but im having problems with my v2 400 skimmer. Ive only just set it up and all it has in it is saltwater and sand.

But the skimmer is filling the cup up with water (white foam like bubble bath) every 10mins.

Is this normal or just becuase its new?

Newly mixed salt water will cause skimmers to go nuts. What make and model is the skimmer?

Boy they look an awful lot like the Corallife Super Skimmer:

Super Skimmer:

The super skimmers are pretty decent, but they do put a fair amount of micro bubbles into the tank. I also have had a hard time getting them to run consistantly.

I would add it as soon as the temp, and SG remain constant. DO you have anythinkg else in the tank?

just coral sand and a powerhead. Hoping to get the live rock next weekend.

How much do you need for a 100L tank 30" by 15" by 18" high?

11-12kg should work out nicely for your tank.

Not even close to looking the same. I mean look close they changed all the red parts to gray. lol. OMG I barely see anything different at all. How's the pricing on these units compared to the SS?

LOL! If I could have found a better picture of the Super Skimmer, you would see it has the same "funnel" type thing at center of the reaction chamber too.

There may be some other "differences" but all in all that skimmer works well for the money, it is just a pain to tune right, and you have to re-tune frequently.

Actually the thing in the center of the reaction chamber is the only thing different I can really see. The SS has like two 45degree elbows. You can barely make it out, it's the 2nd from the bottom pic (little) on the piture of the box. But close enough. lol.
