1 yellow Tang, 2 false perculas, 1 Coral beauty angel, 1 chromis(tiny) and 2 scarlet hermits. Oh and a small colony of zoe's.
I haven't heard anything bad about the Rio pumps in a while, but in the past there were known to fail prematurely and even crash tanks by releasing oil (I beleive) into the tank.
I also think you are probably ok with the redesigned pumps. On a side note, wherever possible I would try to eliminate any submersible pumps or power heads. This will reduce heat transfer into the water, noise to the inhabitants, and the possibility of stray voltage.

Over time science has shown that the simplest answers are usually the correct ones.......
I started using a Rio 2500 around 1995 as a return pump on my old 55 Reef...I wouldn't say it caught fire but it came close in early 2001..I was lucky beacasue I was going to move everything to a new 150 gal tank in a few weeks. That pump fouled the tank big time.
I had a Seio pump burn up last year, it didnt foul the tank but it did burn the inside if the impeller houseing pretty bad..I wouldn't use a pump made by Tamm in my tank anymore.
