RO/DI, How do you operate them?

Let me explain what I mean...

Do you have to leave them on? Is there an on/off switch or valve? I assume you have a hose that runs the now filtered water into a container of some sort.

the reason I ask is because when I get it I want to install it under the kitchen sink. Then when I need water all I have to do is put the run off hose in my container and turn the unit on.

Is this how it works?

Thanks,
SHOG

If you want to install it under the sink, you will need a saddle valve for the feed water and a drain saddle for the waste water. The saddle valve is self piercing and will install on the cold water pipe, a compression fitting connects the feed water to the unit. Then you have your waste line which will need to go to the drain saddle and then your product water which you fill up a container with.

You may wish to do a little more research on a RO/DI. Most are not a simple on/off units which will supply you water on demand. Most RO/DI units are labeled with a GPD amount (gallons per day). If you take that amount and divide by 24 you can see approx. what the flow would be. Most people use a holding tank of some sort so that they can have a larger amount on demand. For 'under the sink' units I have seen 5 and 10 gallon holding tanks but you are probably not going to get much bigger than that. Did I make all of that clear as mud? Good luck.
