Question Skimmer Help

My 40g system with some live rock and seaflor substrate has been running for 17 days now, the skimmer has alot of foam, the settles to a colored liquid. I have raised the water level and lowered but still the same results, I am using two air stones in the in sump skimmer. I usually remove the top of the cup and remove manually. I have no experience with them. I have been running reglular test and they are in my aqua log. I would appreciate the input on this, I have gone to the LFS but see none running, I guess they (skimmers) are below in the sumps as well.

Sorry, I don't understand your question. Are you looking for help in adjusting your skimmer, or are you looking to confirm what you are getting from your skimmer?

With your tank being so new, there may not be a lot of "gunk" to pull out, especially if you used fully cured LR from the LFS.

help

Well I guess I'm looking for both, the foam gathers at the top and get stuck...I know this sounds weird. All the photos I see of skimmers have a really dark substance in them, mine is not that dark. Is this because the system is so new and maybe not finished the "cycle". Sorry for not being more detailed.

This is the picture of my skimmer, you can see the foam gathered at the top...there are two air stones in it. The only adjust I can make is to slide it up and down the side of the sump box. Thanks again.
