lighting!

is it safe to leave my tank without a cover on top?? they say its better so that the light can flow in, will that damage my light even if the ligth is covered?

it depends on what you keep in your tank.
if you have fish that are renound jumpers then is best to have some kind of cover so they dont take a leap of misplaced faith.
also with out a cover you will most likely get move evaporation.

but as far as will you get reduced light in to your tank, the answer is yes. anything that the light has to pass through to get to your tank will reduce its Intensity, but depending on your lights and what you keep in you tank i would not say its dangerous.

but others here may have differing opinions.

what do you keep in your tank do you have corals?
what lighting do you have?
