Jebo protein skimmer 180

Is there any way to get this thing not to overflow, im running a 45 gallon tank. Iv'e got it set up right but the littlest adjustment and BOOM what a mess......If this thing is just a piece of crap can i turn it into a skimmer with just air awooden air stone and no motor,,,, your help would greatly appreciated.

I bought one of those crappy things, too. I eventually took it down, but I got some measly success when I took all of the sponges off and ran two airlines through their pump. Maybe I can turn it into some sort of refugium now that I think about it...

I run a Jebo 180 hangon on my 90 litre (20 gallon) tank. I havent had a problem at all.
