reef filter choice help
i am converting my 25 gallon basic saltwater tank into a reef tank. i have a 40 gallon bio wheel filter, is this ok? it sits on a kitchen counter so i dont have much room for much else any ideas

Replace your bio wheel with a HOB skimmer. If necessary, increase your live rock to 2 lbs per gallon, make sure you have adaquate lighting, add a couple of power heads and you should be good to go.

I would without a doubt loose the bio wheel filter, I would recommend a Ramora C skimmer for a tank that size, unless you get creative and put a refugium in a cabinet under the tank, then you will provide additional water volume, a safe place for pods to breed and a place to hide your equipment in which case I would go with a ASM skimmer in the fuge.
