Are you looking for in sump or the HOB(hang on back) type? I agree that the options could be quite intimidating. Usually I first look into exatcly what type of skimmer I would want to have ( bekett, maybe recirculating type or needlewheel), then I look at the approximate rating that manufacturers had designated their product (100g,150g and so on), the size of the unit and the size of the pump that is required to run it. All thoose details could be very important when choosing a skimmer that will last a while. I personally like bekett style skimmers because of ease of operation and maintanance, but they usually require quite powerful pump to operate them and hence the cost to run it could be a concern.
Check out our sponsor's page and narrow down some of your choices and post them here so we can discuss them.![]()

An AquaC Remmora driven by a Maxi-Jet 1200 would work well on your tank.

The HOB AquaC won't work without modifications if it is an all-in-one unit with the PC lighting in the fully enclosed hood. You'd have to cut away parts of the lighting hood to get it to fit in the tank.
If it is an open topped tank, then it will work. I've got a Remora with a MJ1200 on my 12g aquapod and it fits just fine, so your larger tank should have plenty of room. It seems to be doing well for me so far, but I am a newbie and can't compare it to other units on the market.
I purchased mine from Premium Aquatics INC - live rock and aquarium supply for $164 + shipping. You might find some cheaper or more expensive elsewhere, but that is a reasonable price from my searching efforts.
I do appreicate all the responses. thank you. I'll have to do my homework but I'm looking into the Aquac Remmora. I think I can hang it the sump where the bioballs use to be. I've removed the balls and filled the sump up with water. Its 14"deep * 11"length * 3.5" wide .
