    Protein skimmer cleaning

I have an ASM g-4 protein skimmer that has coraline algea growing inside of the chamber. Is there a way to clean that out. Does it affect the protein skimmer to have the coraline in the chamber?

Whenever I get a coralline growth on anything, I soak it in vinegar for at least an hour and it simply falls off the surface. If you can disconnect your skimmer and then lay it down, put some vinegar in the chamber than need cleaning and let it soak for an hour or two, if possible. I just cleaned all of my probes and a chiller pump that were completely encrusted in coralline. In fact I order replacement pump for the chiller but didn't need to replace it, vinegar and some brush cleaning is all it took to bring it back to life.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

I use straight vinegar for all of the cleaning for my tank;s equipment. I usually buy gallons of it and people look funny at my shopping cart in the supermarket.

    Kind regards,

    Gene.
