denitrificating filter

I have heard of a denitrate filter called a coil type filter.

Is it just a bloody long thin tube with slow water flow and the inside surface of the tube has the anaerobic bacteria that perform denitrification?

cheers james

Re: denitrificating filter

I guess you mean "denitrifying" filter? If so, we don't believe in denitrators over here. Check one of the German boards -- they love 'em.

P.S. -- "Denitrificating" sounds like something that should be illegal.

Re: denitrificating filter

Calfo mentions them in his Coral Prop. book- they sound tedious, but results are possible.
