    changing venturi pump to needlewheel

Hi I accidently bought a 500 gallon per hour needlewheel pump because I did not read the box as good as I should have. Now that I have it, I was wondering if I can change the pump that came with a Jebo 520 even though the venturi pump that came with the jebo 520 was a 800 gallon per hour pump compared the the new pump that is rated for 500 gph?
If not I have to return it as I bought it for a pump to pump my saltwater from my mixing barrel to the tank.
I have read a needlewheel is better at producing bubbles.
One other thing is the skimmer is rated for up to a 300 gallon tank but I am using it in a 75 gallon with a 40 gallon sump.
    Thank you for any responce.

Re: changing venturi pump to needlewheel

Roddey, the 500gph pump will imo be to small. You can try it but i don't think it will have enough pressure to do a whole lot. Yes, a 800-900gph NW pump would make your skimmer much more effective imo. Even though the jobo says its rated for up to a 300g, i wouldn't suggest it for anything larger than a 125g-150g max. There can be many mods to this skimmer that work well. You can add a NW pump, or you can leave it alone and just do a mesh mod. This will make your bubbles smaller and will produce alot more bubbles for better protein extraction. Good luck and let me know if you have anymore questions.
