Skimmer choice....

I have a 90 gallon set up with a 30 gallon sump and I also have a choice of 2 skimmers, an octopus nw150 or the bigger nw200. Do you think the 150 is plenty for this size set up or should I use the 200? The stocking level is medium, 7 fish, clams, sps, lps, 2 shrimp. Thanks for your advice. Bryan.

Re: Skimmer choice....

A skimmer is a pretty critical part of the system. Personally, if all other things were equal and the price to performance ratio is similar between the two skimmers I would buy the larger.

I tend to agree, bigger is better with Skimmers.

Re: Skimmer choice....

That's what I was thinking too, but the ratings for these two skimmers are both way over the size of my system. I know they overrate the capabilities of skimmers and I won't be getting a bigger system any time soon so I was thinking the smaller would be fine but I'll go for the bigger one, thanks. Bryan.

Yup, you'll be much happier with the 200 and so will your inhabitants, and its only 30 bux more at premium aquatics anyhow.....its not a pocket breaker like lights! Good luck!
