    Ozone Reactor and Algae

    What affect does Ozone have on algae in a reef tank? Ie, Diatom algae. Will it help eliminate algae?
    125 Acrylic Tank 48x24x24
    Approx 20 gal Sump/Refugium
    Refugium has 12 light with 55watt PC
    2x 400w MH 20k lights running 9hrs/day
    2x 110w VHO Super Actinics running 12hrs/day
    Calcium Reactor
    Kalk drip with top-off
    Closed loop Sequence Dart Pump 12hrs/day
    Mag 7 Circulation pump 24/7
    Kent salt
    10 gal water change bi-weekly
    Temp ranges: 77 - 85
    Nitrate/Nitrite/Ammon: 0
    PH: 8.0
    P04: 0
    Ca: 380
    dkh: 7
    Mag: 1350

    I've been running ozone for over a year now and still get a ditom film on the glass, so I would say it doesn't really eliminate algal growth.
    I think you should really read Dr.Holmes-Farley articles on ozone to make any conclusions on the benefit of ozone or otherwise.

    ozone will kill free floating algae and such, but DOes nothing agains diatom.
