Is a 36 watt too much for a 150 (130) gallon tank with about 80 lbs of LR? It's an Odyssea 36 watt uv sterilizer.

No, I don't think so, I use a 57W unit on my 90 gallon tank. When shopping for a UV sterilizer, I found one that had a flow rate of what I wanted to put through it. In my case, that meant a 57W unit capable of 90,000 (whatever units) at 1000 GPH, as my UV is directly in front of my skimmer. By putting the UV in line with the skimmer, I am hoping that whatever the UV kills is removed from the system.

No, it's not too much. In fact, it's just about right. A 25w would be marginal for a 150-gal reef tank. Don't forget to regulate the flow through the unit. You will probably want about 600-750 gph to maximize your kill rate.
