Durso Standpipe
I've done a few searches for feedback on these and haven't found much.
I'll be changing tanks and would like a pierced tank so I can have a more quiet overflow. (I have a HOB CPR overflow right now that sounds horrible) Anyone willing to fork out some info on these. On the site it says it's self priming, does that mean when I shut of the pumps for feeding that it will re-start without any problems? I'm kinda babbling now cuz I don't know much about these but I'm trying to learn as much as possible before I get started.

Re: Durso Standpipe
Your talking about getting a drilled tank with an overflow? If yes, the Durso standpipe is simply a pipe that will reduce the amount of noise (virtually silent) when running a corner overflow. There is no priming so to speak, water just flows down them. They are really essential for corner overflows.

Check out this site http://www.dursostandpipes.com/ it might help answer any questions. It also shows you how to make a standpipe.

Re: Durso Standpipe
Getting ready to buy the parts for my standpipe but I have a question.
I noticed all the standpipes on the Durso site have a reducer at the bottom/bulkhead, anyone know why? I'm going to have a 1.5" bulkhead and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to go up with 2" pipes to follow his specs OR should I go 1.5" all the way up OR should I reduce to 1.25" and then go back to 1.5" to the top. I only want to do this once so lots of feedback on this would be great!

Re: Durso Standpipe
You should go for this one, but note the dimensions needed for it to fit behind your overflow.

This seems to be the latest craze in silent standpipes. I really don't know much about them except that they sure look nice and both James (Naka) and Edward (invincible569) are using them. BTW, I highly recommend reading both of those threads (Naka's tank and invincible569's tank) because their photography is spectacular! In fact, it's more than spectacular. ![]()
