ive just set up my reef tank and its still in the first cycle stage so have no corals or fish yet just live rock and sand. my ph is fine and so is my salinity im using tropic marin pro reef sea salt, the only other thing i have added to the water is TetraAquas AquaSafe(a blue liquid) to treat the tap water and make the chlorine level safe for fish. my protine skimmer is produsing foam witch is turning into a blue liquid(i assume this is the aquasafe). will my water still be safe for when im ready to introduce fish?? can any1 help. my protine skimmer is combined with my pump and filters so i cant turn it off or my rock and sand will die

Re: chlorine level pls help
Ok, so here's the way I see it, of should I say my own experience..The chances are that your tap water isn't safe to use. Chlorine is just one of many bad things in tap water. If it were me I'd stop now and not add anything to the tank until you replace all the tap with RO\DI water from a GOOD RO\DI unit..Its just not worth cutting corners here. For 2-3 hundred dollars you can get a very good RO\DI unit and at least feel safe that your starting with GOOD clean water.
If you start with bad water you off to a bad start. |

I agree with Goldfish, Don't use tap water. You are asking for problems. Most cities tap water are loaded with phosphates, which will lead to nuisance algae outbreaks
