    External Overflow

    Everyone,

I have a simple question i believe...i am starting my tank over due to an unexpected move.. I see external overflows talking about how ever many gph they can move. I plan to have the overflow go down into a wet/dry filter and then back into the tank. would i need a pump that can move the same amount of water that the overflow moves...again simple question..also any other usefull information would be appreciated..

    Thanks,
    Garrett

    Re: External Overflow

The pump and the overflow should match gph. HTH

However the pump can also be less gph than the overflow (still has to be enough to move water to the tank) and if it is over the rated capacity of the overflow you can control the pumps outflow with a ball valve to ensure it is not exceeded.

    Re: External Overflow

Your talking about a ball valve on the return pumps line correct....

Yes, only on the output of the return pump though.
