Cleaning Glass and DSB
I have a question...New to Reefs...Do I bother cleaning my sand bed (fine crushed coral..came with tank). Should I also clean the sides of the tank? I notice the bed is starting to get dirty...Im thinking its a good thing lol...normally I would with fish only that Ive had in the past.

Re: Cleaning Glass and DSB
The glass yes defintely, the sand maybe defintely. Just kidding there are many posts and opinions about the sand bed. Some vacuum sand with water change, some deeply other just the very top layer, others use different types of clean up animals such as crabs, cucumbers ( may try cukes myself) others use different gobi fish that sift the sand. My tank is just seven months old and I haven't done anything yet but it's getting time to. Probably get a cuke after some of the reading I've done, I understand some Gobi are a problem with putting the substrate onto places you won't enjoy it such as other animals, corals, etc. so check them out before you buy.
