    Red Sea Max -skimmer ?

    Hi.. ive have a red sea max - unfortunately i had a red algae problem... since the treatment the skimmer is overflowing... and i cant get the pumps to run WITH the skimmer w/o a million tiny bubbles. any help would b greatly appreciated.... ready to pull my hair OUT !!!

    Do you have much live rock?? Say 30+ pounds? If so I'd first remove both of the filter pads - they caused massive bubbles for me and pads (imho) are worthless.

    Also - if you've dosed a chemical for algae removal and your skimmer can't handle it - you'll either have to turn off your skimmer - or tighten the air adjuster knob.

    How long has your tank been running?

    Algae is normal - especially at the late stage of your cycle and for a month or more after. Add a cleanup crew and do some water changes. Are the water parameters ok?

    i have abt 40pnds of live rock and just added some more snails and blue leg crabs... i cut the filter pad to abt 1.5 inches.. ill try removing it completely... all other water conditions r good.. calcium alittle low at times.. tank has been running since 4-11-07. thanks for the infor... let u know how it turns out.. tx ;)

    I had a algea problem, If you use med you need to remove your carbon from the filter and turn your skimmer off intill your done....
