Aqua-C Remora
First of all I would like to hello! Introduce....myself.
I am looking to get a skimmer to replace my Prizim (boo, I know) I have a 55g reef setup that I'm trying to perfect. I have had a large fish loss due to the ever-popular ich. So I have started a QT for acclimation, hoping to aviod the loss again. All this prompted me to start doing lots and lots of research, which is how I learned I 'got had' on the Prizim. After thinking a UV system would help my problem, I learned that better husbandry would benefit me more (ie. better skimmer and QT) Which brings me too.... The Aqua-C Remora, with MJ 1200. I did a search on here and only found postings in the sales section. Does anybody have any expirence using this or similiar product? I hear pretty good reviews. Your thoughts? ~Smalls~ A little info on me..... 60g freshwater housing 8 Discus 55g reef 60lbs live rock 2 65watt (each) coralife sub compacts Actinic blue t-5 Emperor 400 and 200 Prizim Skimmer 2 Aquaclear 70 powerheads Blue Spotted Dwarf Puffer 6 line wrasse cleaner shrimp few snails asst. corals and polyps. |

Re: Aqua-C Remora
It's a great skimmer. Definitely get it with the MaxiJet upgrade. I orig. bought the pre-filter box, but I took it off. Didn't seem to do much for me (I actually got better results without it). Very easy to clean/maintain. Very good bang for your buck IMO.

Re: Aqua-C Remora
It is a good skimmer but I would recommend getting the Remora Pro version with the Mag 3 pump. They run about $220-$230 and well worth the extra $50-$60 over the standard Remora IMO/IME.
Regards, Kevin

Re: Aqua-C Remora
Remora Pro with mag is a great skimmer.
Sounds like you are on you way. Ich is very hard to combat. It settles in the rocks, sand etc waiting for the right time to strike. I would still consider a small UV setup. All of these thing put together with great husbandry will continue down the road of success. Good luck and happy reefing.
