Re: My Tank Build
After months (literally) of trying to catch this guy with everything I can think of.... nets, multiple fish traps, etc, my nephew (Nitrx11) made me a fishin pole out of a twig and the smallest hook I ever seen. I laughed and put in on the shelf for the time being.... Being extremely frustrated at the fish pickin at my clown while he was tryin to play in his RBTA, I decided what the heck, i'd give it a try. So I got a shrimp, tore off a small piece, baited the hook and threw it in. He stole the first one off the hook so I put a smaller one on and put it right at the tip. When he grabbed it this time I let him turn and start down behind the rocks and then gave it a yank.... I caught him!!!! In less than two minutes a joke caught a fish I was tryin to catch for months! I pulled him out ran through the house like an idiot to show my wife when she yelled at me and told me to get it into the fuge for now untill I get him to his new owner (fellow teacher). It was just like fishin at the river except on a small scale. LOL I grabbed him, took the hook out, and tossed him in the fuge!! LOL I'm sooo happy.
BTW: it's been 3 hours and he's doin great and believe it or not, already eating! ![]() |

Re: My Tank Build
Good grab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is lucky he wasn't living here. I used to have 3, a long time ago.
![]() ![]() ![]() Between the 3 of them, they killed a lionfish that I had. Not long after that, they were swimming with the brown trout. My LFS told me they were great fish to have in my tank. |

Hahahaha, geez. I'm sooo glad to have him gone. Now my other clowns are hosting in my big RBTA which is on the other end. I don't think they've ever been down there! LOL

Re: My Tank Build
Thanks! I appreciate it. Just take your time and try to read and ask a lot of questions. That is the advice I got *after* two tank crashes and tons of money down the drain. There are a lot of people on here that will help as have helped me.
Welcome aboard! |

Re: My Tank Build
It's just made out of 1/2 inch PVC from a hardware store. I use reg pvc joint glue and on top of it I used what we call eggcrate (eggcrate louvers) . It's actually what goes over light fixtures in the ceilings. You can also get that at most hardware stores at least in the U.S. Here it is at at online place I quickly found...
Egg Crate Louvers That gives you an idea of what it's used for if you haven't seen it! |
