Nitrites creepin up in established tank

My nitrites seem to creep up to 0.2. especially when I add anything. I am thinking that my filtration is inadequate to support my heavily stocked tank. About 6 month I took everything from my established (9 mos) 75gallon and inhabitants and moved to a 150gallon. I have been slowing more re inttroducing live rock to my tank. My wet dry sump is aprox 32in by 16 in guessing maybe 16 gallons? My retun pump move 1000 gallon per hr. I am guessing my tank is turned over aprox 6.7 an hour. My prefilter skimmer box has dual hose leadign to the wet dry. How many gallons per hour do the standard "u tubes" remove from the tank. What size pump can I put on my tank before I have to worry about my sump being sucked dry faster than the skimmer box can handle. Should I be concerned at all with this when purchasing a pump? Wish I had purchased a predrilled tank and bigger pump to begin with

Re: Nitrites creepin up in established tank

If this is nitrate you are finding it is from a high bio load.
If it is nitrite and the ammonia is 0 my only guess it is a new tank overload.
Could you give us more info. Ox levels, ammonia, nitrate, alk, pH, phosphate.

Re: Nitrites creepin up in established tank

I asked this same question in another forum and Leebca moved it to it's own thread in the saltwater fish only aquarium. I will continue the thread there. Thanks.
