I am looking to get a wavemaking device that will be compatible with the Sure Flow mods that I have on my 3 MJ 1200's. I have read about this and it appears that the issue arises when the MJ starts and the impellar starts in the wrong direction and hits the stopper, this action over time breaks down the unit. I BELIEVE that I read also about wavemaking units that will decrease and increase the electrical current rather than completly cutting it off thus eliminating the problem with the MJ. Does anyone know of a device(s) that can provide this type of electrical flow?
Side note to this being that I see on AlgaeFree's website that there is a new Sureflow out that has two propellars one that only works with the MJ 1200 and it also includes a new mounting bracket that works with the stock MJ bracket. Also note that I read that AlgaeFree will send you the upgrade with proof of purchase for free although it has not been substantiated. |

Re: Wavemaker with MJ Mods
After further review I have come across the Seio Multi Electronic Controller which will run two pumps/powerheads one at 30% and the other at 100% and switch with from 15 sec to 30 min. However, this doesnt oscilate the water flow rather both run at 30% or both run at 100%. The search still continues.

Re: Wavemaker with MJ Mods
You might take a look at some of the timers that DonW posted in the Reef Werks (sponsor) forum.

Re: Wavemaker with MJ Mods
natural wave strip by aquarium pharmaceuticals is the wave strip i use. It will cycle 3 outlets and it also has 3 regular outlets. I have 2 maxi-jets with the sureflo mods that I have on the cycled outlets no problems and one hydor koralia 4 that is on a regular outlet (the koralias are the ones that need a low amperage at all times) This wavemaker does NOT have the capability of lowering the amperage on the cycled outlets it will completely shut the amperage off during the cycling off stage, however you can set the interval time frame for the cycling off. This is a cheaper wave strip than the others like the seio that will utilize the low amperage. FWIW Im considering going w/just koralias and a seio timer....If I had it all to do all over again I think thats the route I would have taken.
