If it were me, I would put two Koralia 1's or 2's. Have them on each end facing each other. That way the flow will meet and become even more random when it bounces off each other.

Something similar to the Hydor Koralia but a bit more expensive would be the Tunze Nano Stream 6025. Two of those would be great in a 45-gal tank. I wouldn't go with the more powerful #6045's because they would be too strong.
I guess a lot depends on how much money you want to spend on powerheads. There are powerheads and then there are really nice powerheads.

Wow....two Koralia 4's for one Nano Stream 6045.
How much is too much flow? Say for a 90g semi-reef tank (which I'd have a few fish and some corals as well)?
I know I'm going to have to add some powerheads to my system, but I was wondering "how much flow" do I really have to add? I'd currently be running at about 11x with my return from my sump (one Mag12)...obviously I need to add to that. If I put in two of the Koralia 4's or Nano Stream 6045's (1200gph/ea), then I'd be at around 33.7x flow per hour in my 90g (not including the 30g sump).
I just don't want to have so much flow in the DT that it blows the fish or inverts around the tank. LOL I don't think that would be too much fun for them.

Hey Mat, not sure there is an answer to the question of how much flow is enough. It will depend a lot on what is in the tank, how the flow is dispersed and so on. When my 75g is done and if I run everything wide open, I could be looking at 70X and I know people that are running 100X overturn on their tanks

Damn...there goes my wallet for 2008.
