    Re: Seachem Purigen

    It does not replace carbon.

I have it in a Two Little Fishies reactor. I also run Phosban in the other reactor. I recently doubled up on the Purigen, so the reactor is now 3/4 full as th epic shows half full.

Purigen removes nitrates. Once it darkens up, a dark purple, you can simply bleach it out white again and start over with it. It is endless on how many times you can "recharge" the stuff.

I just empty the reactor into a Purigen mesh bag you can get online. Tie the bag closed and soak in pure bleach for few hours or so. Give it a quick rinse, let it sit in the sun for a day or two to kill the bleach and it is good to go again.

Been using it for 3 years or so with good results.

Here is an older pic. The mangroves support themselves now and are right over the top of the sump.

Wouldnt it be a lot faster to just soak it in a concentrated solution of decholinator for a few hours?
Nothing wrong with letting our wondeful ball of gas work its magic I just thought that seemed like a fairly drawn out process.

Never thought of that to be honest. Will have to try it out next time.
