Auto-feeder recommendations

I would love to hear what automoatic-feeders people are using and their recommendations, good or bad. I've done a little research on some vendors websites and none of them really excite me.

What I'd like to see is a feeder with a built in digital clock so I can set the times the food is released and not just the frequency.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

The Eheim is a good feeder. I dont think there are any hobbiest feeders with a RTC. They usually just divide the 24hr period equally by the frequency.

Re: Auto-feeder recommendations

Anyone know if there is one that you can load with frozen food? Flakes are fine, but they leave a mess.

There is only one that I know of that will feed frozen and live food and I just filed the patent on it.
The biggest issue is decomp of the frozen food. You really cant go more than a day before it gets nasty. But you can load it daily and have it feed all day long.
They are really easy to make if your into diy and use an air pump and an aqualifter. I wont have them for resale for awhile but dont mind sharing the design as long as its not sold. I did a thread on RC and and low and behold found someone in eu selling them.
Ive got a cheasy paint drawing on one of my pc's I'll try and find if your interested.

Re: Auto-feeder recommendations

I would be interested in seeing it Don.

I would love to give my fishy friends a more natural feeding schedule if I can.

Here ya go. Air keeps the food flying around the tube and mixed. Works great with cyclopeze, pods, oyster eggs, brine, rotifers and frozen. The aqualifter/valve controls the feed rate and just very slowly overflows the main tube into tank or sump. The 45 degree bottom keeps food stirred so there no food resting in the bottom. The drawing is terrible but you will get the idea. You need to blow it up to see it, just a paintbrush pic.

Re: Auto-feeder recommendations

That is an awesome design. Thanks Don!

You could easily create homemade foods and freeze them into single day food sizes and then just drop one in to the despencer every morning. As the food thaws it will overflow into the tank and feed the fishes through out the day.

Thanks again. I will try and post pictures along the way of how I put mine together so you can see.
