Talking CPR Bacpac Upgrade

Just posting up a little note on improving the performance of the CPR Bacpac. I have been putting it off forever, but yesterday I finally pulled off the venturi and replaced the pump. I ran airline tubing through the bio chamber and up into the riser chamber where I put two 3" limewood airstones. I powered these with a dual tetra air pump (might work better with a deep water pump, but it is only under 6" of water).

It was amazing. There were so many bubbles that I had to raise the collector cup about half an inch over the waters surface. With the venturi the collector needed to be under the surface to work. I will see how this works in the long run, but for first impression I would say that this is an upgrade that is worth doing. It also makes for much quieter operation of the skimmer, a definite plus since this tank is in the step parents living room. Just FYI, your mileage may vary

Hey Dan,
No I haven't made it over there in a bit. I will go and check it out. I just wanted to harrass you for fun on it though. Have fun setting up, hope it goes much smoother than the 90g

Ya know I thinik the 46 might be leaking..I had it filled for a few days and theres a salt creep on the bottom between the plastic and glass underneath..Ism not sure if it's leaking or not..I did just have normal tap water in it thgouh so that was kinda weird..You still have that ro/di?Iam really hoping Iam gonna be able to go to steinhart..Might possibly be going to disneyland that weekend..Dan

Yeah, that RO unit is still sitting in the closet. Bummer on the 46, I would definitely check it over before continued work.
